Drovers Lad

THE DROVER'S LAD, fiction. $34 plus postage. 'The Drover's Lad' is the story of Bill Wadeson who leaves his home state of Queensland in 1915 as a stockman with boss drover Harry Strang taking a mob of cattle down to the saleyards at Wodonga, in Victoria. On the way Bill cobbers up with Harry Sinclair, one of the other stockmen on the job. After delivering the mob at Wodonga Bill Wadeson and Harry Sinclair travel to Melbourne by train to spend some time with a Boer War mate of Harry's. Harry Sinclair enlists in a Light Horse regiment and sees service in the Middle East, writing to Bill of his experiences. The story continues during WW1, Harry's return from the War and Bill giving up the droving life to settle near Melbourne. Both men marry, raise families, continue to be involved with horses and experience the Depression of the 1930's and another War.
