CHAFF AND OATS, illustrated. $30 plus postage. This is a collection of horse lore, memoirs, fair dinkum yarns and short stories , written from the experiences and memories of a horseman's lifetime. 'Chaff And Oats' is the sort of book you can open at page one, or any page, and just start reading. The photographs, experiences and memoirs within the book maybe from days gone by, but are still fresh in the author's memory.
A PAIR OF SPURS $16.00 plus postage. A tale about a pair of fancy spurs bought at auction with a box of junk and the mysterious influence they seemed to have on the horses.
THE DROVER'S LAD, fiction. $34 plus postage. 'The Drover's Lad' is the story of Bill Wadeson who leaves his home state of Queensland in 1915 as a stockman with boss drover Harry Strang taking a mob of cattle down to the saleyards at Wodonga, in Victoria. On the way Bill cobbers up with Harry Sinclair, one of the other stockmen on the job. After delivering the mob at Wodonga Bill Wadeson and Harry Sinclair travel to Melbourne by train to spend some time with a Boer War mate of Harry's. Harry Sinclair enlists in a Light Horse regiment and sees service in the Middle East, writing to Bill of his experiences. The story continues during WW1, Harry's return from the War and Bill giving up the droving life to settle near Melbourne. Both men marry, raise families, continue to be involved with horses and experience the Depression of the 1930's and another War.
TIFFANY'S CHILDREN, fiction. $20 plus postage. The story of the mare, 'Tiffany', her off-spring of six fillies and four colt and the influence thay have on the lives of a human family. Jim and Margaret Gordon and their children, Harry, Megan, and Charlie. The story is told by each of the family members, childhood years and growing up around horses, horse shows, marriages and the next generation.
